Goodwill, not Landfill

Every year during the resident hall move out, we partner with Goodwill of Acadiana to divert electronics, home goods, clothes, and school supplies in good condition from the landfill and send these items back into the community. Collection bins are located in each resident hall and at select locations at apartments. Durning moveouts students typically donate average a total of 3,800 lbs of materials to Goodwill, which created local jobs and ultimately extended the life cycle of resources.

Through this effort and the addition of recycling dumpsters, we were able to reduce the “waste” tonnage by approximately 75% from 2013 and we have hit similar numbers in the following years!
