Cajun Field goes Zero Waste on Gamedays
Zero Waste means we will be trying to divert as much waste from landfills as possible. As part of our Zero Waste Campaign, started in 2014, we will continue our recycling efforts and now we will be composting on game days at Cajun Field. Our goal for 2018 is to divert 60% of gameday waste from landfill. Look for red bins to recycle and black bins to compost at Cajun Field!

Water Bottle Filling Stations Save Big
The new water bottle filling stations have saved over 268,340 water bottles across campus since 2016. The Union contributed the most with 77,057 water bottles saved, Madison Hall saved 29,583 bottles, and Martin Hall was a close third with 28331 bottles saved.

Geaux Vélo Hits 1000 Rides for the 2017 Fall Semester!
UL’s bike share program is still growing in ridership. In the Fall of 2017, we reached 1000 rides and the entire year resulted in over 2000 rides. Thanks for riding Geaux Velo!

UL ranks 150th in GreenMetric World University Rankings
This year 619 universities in 76 countries participated and UL placed 150th in the world and 22nd in the United States. It is the only university ranking system in the world that measure a university’s commitment in developing an ‘environmentally friendly’ infrastructure. The rankings look at 6 categories focused on sustainability: setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation and education.

UL Students Win International Green City Competition!
Congratulations to our UL Lafayette students who took first and third place in the LAGCOE Green City Student Design competition. Five final teams from Lafayette, Canada, and Mexico presented design proposals to make cities around the world more sustainable.

Tree Campus USA is a program sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation. The program recognizes colleges and universities that manage their campus trees, connect with the community to foster healthy, urban forests, and engage students in service learning that supports forestry efforts. UL Lafayette just earned its eighth consecutive title with the addition of the 2016 Tree Campus USA recognition.
