Our bioswales are more than just pretty landscaping features! These green infrastructure projects reduce stormwater runoff, help recharge the Chicot Aquifer, improve the quality of runoff, and provide a habitat for our pollinator friends

Want to be a Zero Waste Goalie?

The Office of Sustainability is working with Ragin' Cajuns Athletics to make Cajun Field a Zero Waste stadium. That means we are going to start collecting compost during football games! To make this run smoothly, we need student help as "zero waste goalies" during the games.

Cajun Field goes Zero Waste on Gamedays

Zero Waste means we will be trying to divert as much waste from landfills as possible. As part of our Zero Waste Campaign, started in 2014, we will continue our recycling efforts and now we will be composting on game days at Cajun Field. Our goal for 2018 is to divert 60% of gameday waste from landfill. Look for red bins to recycle and black bins to compost at Cajun Field!

UL ranks 150th in GreenMetric World University Rankings

This year 619 universities in 76 countries participated and UL placed 150th in the world and 22nd in the United States. It is the only university ranking system in the world that measure a university’s commitment in developing an ‘environmentally friendly’ infrastructure. The rankings look at 6 categories focused on sustainability: setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation and education.
