Happy Birthday, Geaux Vélo Bike Share!
UL Lafayette's Geaux Vélo bike share was launched in March 2016, and has been growing ever since. All three kiosk locations (Girard Circle parking garage, Cajun Field, and the Student Union) have seen a total of over 3,400 rides! The Student Union kiosk location has been the most popular with over 2,200 rides. 62% of all rides over the past year have lasted less than an hour. That means that 62% of all rides taken on Geaux Vélo bikes have been FREE! 20% of all rides last 1-2 hours, 6% last 2-3 hours, and 10% last 3-24 hours.
Geaux Vélo members have informed us that they use Geaux Vélo bikes on and off campus. We love seeing the bikes all over town, from Downtown Lafayette to the Oil Center! Biking is an enjoyable method of transportation that costs less than driving, offers health benefits, and cuts down on harmful emissions! If you don't have a bike of your own, rent a Geaux Vélo bike! It's free to sign up, free to remain a member, and free for the first hour of any ride! Visit GeauxVeloBikeshare.com to sign up or learn more.
Also, Geaux Bike UL is a social bike club on campus that welcomes both novice and experienced bikers. The group is centered around making UL Lafayette a bike-friendly campus by offering information sessions on bicycle maintenance, safety, and rules. Members have an opportunity to unite as an organization, grow friendships, meet new people and explore the beautiful city of Lafayette through organized bike rides and activities!
