Sustainability Opportunities + Events in the Community and in Louisiana for the Fall 2024 Semester:

  • Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana’s (CRCL) Future Coastal Leaders (FCL) is a free educational and professional development program for young people focusing on, environmental issues, the culture of coastal Louisiana, and skill building to help students prepare for their future. The program works like a school club, starting in the Fall and ending in the Spring, with regular meetings and field trips where students can learn about issues facing our coast, proposed solutions, and potential career paths. FCL is free to join, and we will be accepting applications on a rolling basis until our first meeting on September 4th, 2024.
  • Louisiana Wildlife Federation’s Conservation Leadership Corps(CLC) applications opening this semester. Be on the lookout for that!
  • Backyard Sapphire(Lafayette's glass recycling) is looking for volunteers!
  • Moncus Park has a Conservation Club!
  • Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association's (BVPA) State of the River is a free event on Sept 26th and attendees can learn about our local Vermilion watershed. Follow @preservebayouvermilionon Instagram for updates about when you can reserve your free ticket(a bowl of Cajun Chicken Pasta is included in the ticket). Tickets are limited.
  • Recycling Volunteering at Festival  Acadiens et Creoles is open to sign up to volunteer - October 11-13, 2024: Sign up to volunteer
  • 2024 Keep Louisiana Beautiful's (KLB) State Conference Registration is open and students get discounted tickets -Conference is October 23 and 24
