Help conserve energy during the break – Winter Break Energy Saving Protocol

The offices of Sustainability and Facilities Management would like your help conserving energy during the holiday break from 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 until 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Remember to turn off all lights, close any blinds, and unplug office electronics and non-essential kitchen items such as monitors, printers, copiers, microwaves, and coffee pots. The Office of Facilities Management will adjust temperature settings for most areas, with the exception of research labs, Winter Intercession classrooms, and buildings with window units. For those areas where you control the temperature, turn the thermostats to heat and set the temperature to 55 degrees.

Please designate someone in your college, office, or department to check all break rooms, computer labs, offices, and public areas of your buildings before you leave to ensure everything is turned off and unplugged. Thank you for doing your part to help the University of Louisiana at Lafayette conserve energy and save money!

We have made our list. Please, check it twice! Here is our energy saving checklist. If you are leaving for a vacation over the winter break please consider using these tips to save energy and money at your own home.
