Fête de la Terre Partner Profile: Eco-Products

“We are not a disposable products company trying to act green. We're a green company who happens to operate in disposables.

Sustainable disposables sound like an oxymoron, but we live in a consumer culture where disposable products are ubiquitous. And they aren't going away anytime soon. We see this as an incredible opportunity to help change the world—and more importantly, each of the local communities we serve—by making sustainable disposable products that shift an industry.” - Eco-Products

Eco-Products is a Boulder, Colorado based sustainable disposables company founded by Kent and Steve Savage in 1990.  They specialize in food-service packaging made out of compostable or recycled-content materials. According to Eco-Products,they are a company that understands the connection between the health of the planet and the impacts of disposable packaging, and they strive to be leaders in a  Zero Waste future.

Eco-Products started off by purchasing recycled products from larger companies and distributing them to businesses in Denver, Colorado, but in 2007, they created the GreenStripe® cup. The GreenStripe® cup is a product of Eco-Products’ own making made of compostable “corn plastic” or PLA, which replaced their purchasing of non-compostable, traditional petroleum-based plastics. Following the release of their GreenStripe® cup, Eco-Products developed more lines of compostable and recyclable serviceware products.

Further establishing their commitment to  sustainability and Zero Waste, Eco-Products uses global initiatives such as the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals as guidance. Some feats recently achieved by Eco-Products are helping an underserved community implement a zero-waste program and developing a scorecard system that promotes sustainability criteria to be upheld by their suppliers. With many more goals in progress,  Eco-Products really is one of the most sustainable companies we know and we are glad to have them as a partner for the Fête de la Terre Expo!

Where will you find Eco-Products during the Expo?  While eating free jambalaya out of compostable bowls and with compostable forks!

Thanks to Eco-Products, food service at the Expo will be a Zero Waste activity.

See you there on Friday, April 26th between 10:30am and 1:30pm.  For more event information visit: https://www.facebook.com/events/359091171363046/
