The University of Louisiana at Lafayette was founded on the principles of good stewardship of the environment. As the Office of Sustainability, our purpose is to ensure that the University continues to be socially, economically, and environmentally conscious of all its actions.
We aim to raise awareness of our environmental impact, educate in sustainable best practices, reduce resource consumption and waste production, and instill environmental ethic and values in our students, faculty, and staff. This is done through an integrated approach that includes curriculum, research, procurement through disposal practices, operational procedures and practices, master planning and facilities, and project based learning opportunities.
In working to achieve our sustainability goals we will utilize our campus and region as a living-laboratory to inform and inspire our students, faculty, staff and community to create positive, systemic changes for a sustainable future, as stated in our Sustainability Policy.
Our Sustainability Plan is in place to assess our current state, analyze our progress, and state future goals in every aspect of our University's functions.
