Garden Party at the Horticulture Club Student Garden

Monday, April 14, 2014 - 5:30pm to 6:30pm

"We're in the midst of a Movement -- someone grab the Tiller!" -Dr. Ray Brassieur

An anthropologist muses about sustainability movements –past, present, and future –with a special eye on Acadiana.

Join us for a spring celebration of growing gardens and preserving our agricultural heritage!
UL Lafayette's Horticulture Club will host a "Meet and Greet" at the Community Garden on campus and local anthropologist, Dr. Ray Brassieur, will also speak on the agricultural heritage of the Acadiana region. Come enjoy this beautiful green space on campus and see the enormous potential that exists for garden initiatives run by UL Lafayette's very own students, impassioned by the resurgence of a localized food and farming movement.

UL Lafayette’s Office of Sustainability will provide light refreshments. Sodexo has donated bags of used coffee grounds for use in your own gardens and there will also be a limited availability of herbs from the Horticulture Club's Community Garden.

The student garden is conveniently located right off our University bike path on Coliseum Road. For Google Map directions, follow this link: https://goo.gl/maps/UfBky
