Bayou Vermilion Canoe Trip

Saturday, April 12, 2014 - 8:00am to 11:30am

The Bayou Vermilion may be our community's most underutilized natural resource. The Office of Sustainability is hoping to change that through several events, installations, and educational opportunities throughout the week of Fete de la Terre. What better way is there to kick off our "Think Global. Geaux Local" week than a canoe trip down the Vermilion?!

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to take a guided canoe trip on the Bayou Vermilion. Your tour starts with an overview of the Bayou Vermilion and basic paddling safety tips. Your guide will then fit you with paddles and life jackets, as well as help you load your craft into the water. The tour goes upriver to Bayou Tortue and then back to Vermilonville, lasting about two hours depending on the river conditions and paddler experience.

Space is limited. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to bring your own canoe/kayak if you have one.
